Hunger is an all-too-common reality for many people, but for those experiencing homelessness, the challenge of getting a decent, ready-to-eat meal is a daily obstacle. Recently, our community was made aware of three individuals whose narratives show why a simple meal can mean so much more.

We know of three clients who are currently homeless and staying in respite care. These people don’t receive food stamps, and one in particular receives nothing that he doesn't obtain from the soup kitchen every day.

A hot, nutritious meal is a luxury for most. For those without homes, it offers rare comfort and energy. Witnessing how a simple act of kindness can restore hope is a common experience. Support is needed now to help these three individuals and others.

These accounts show that there's no one-size-fits-all solution to hunger. For those without a home, a meal requires thought, care, and understanding of their circumstances. You can help us make a difference by offering ready-to-eat meals and other items.

Donate meals or non-perishable items such as:

Pop-top canned meals

Cup noodles

Gum or mints

Canned beans or tuna

Peanut butter

Peanut butter crackers

Pre-packed cheese

Quick microwave meals (Hot Pockets, etc)

Instant cereal/oatmeal packets

Instant coffee packets

Bottled water

Protein bars

Fruit cups

Beef jerky

Small pack of hand/body wipes

Toothpaste/toothbrush

Individually packaged items are best.

By remembering the unique stories behind every person experiencing homelessness, you can offer more than food—dignity, respect, and a message that they have not been forgotten.

Hunger has a tangible solution. Providing a meal offers food and a sign of compassion. Your help can make a difference today.
